Maria has been dancing all her life in some form or another. Her love of music makes standing still difficult. Belly dance caught her attention in 2006 and she discovered she had a natural talent for the art.
With hard work and dedication Maria quickly accelerated from a beginning belly dance class to a performing member of the award winning dance troupe Zahara al Jinan. Zahara al Jinan is under the direction and choreography of Rozanne Hurst (Jinan Performing Arts Studio).
As a troupe member, she has performed at numerous fundraisers and social events and on stage. She has recently expanded her talents as a solo performer and drummer. Her innate grace and relaxed demeanor permeate all aspects of her dance. Maria will mesmerize you with her dance technique and lift your heart with her smile.
Maria, a long time New Mexico resident, a mother of two great boys, Santos and Jerome, and is presently working on a degree in Liberal Arts. She is also fluent in sign language. In her spare time, Maria enjoys designing and sewing costumes, rehearsing, drumming, attending dance workshops, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
